STEAMING (1985 film)
Presented by The Friends of Carlisle Victorian & Turkish Baths
‘STEAMING’ tells the story of three women who are regular users of a Turkish Baths and decide to fight its closure.
Directed by Joseph Losey and starring Vanessa Redgrave, Sarah Miles and Diana Dors, the screenplay was written by Nell Dunn, adapted from the play, STEAMING, by Patricia Losey. It was filmed at Porchester Road Turkish Baths in London.
This screening is a fundraising event for The Friends of Carlisle Victorian & Turkish Baths. As part of the evening The Friends will provide an update on the campaign to save Carlisle’s Victorian & Turkish Baths.
Screen Time: 95 mins. Rating 18+
The film will be shown at the Stanwix Theatre at the Institute of the Arts, University of Cumbria, Brampton Rd, Carlisle CA3 9AW on Friday 29th September 2023, 7pm.
During the interval The Friends will be selling merchandise and answering questions. Refreshments will also be available, both before the film and during the interval.
Tickets £15, over 60s £10, students in full-time education (18+) £5. Please note: You must be over 18 to purchase tickets for this event. All proceeds will support our fundraising campaign. Tickets can be purchased online via the University of Cumbria’s Ticketsource platform.
